About NileBuffalo Gazette
The NileBuffalo Gazette is a non-profitable organisation, a think-tank institution working for the promotion of unity, social integrity, peace and development in Southern Sudan. The NileBuffalo Gazette is a fruition of consultations among a group of friends from different backgrounds and political sets but all share one perception of building a united and democratic nation in Southern Sudan. The group seeks to bridge the development deficit gap posed by the country's long years of the civil war and mismanagement. The aim is to build a new generation of Southern Sudanese leaders that will focus on peace, development and unity. The primary objective is to build an open and free discussion platform (the NileBuffalo Gazette website forum), where we could make constructive contributions in building and strengthening the social, political & economic structures such as benevolence, compassion, cooperation, employment and so forth in the Southern Sudan. The NileBuffalo Gazette website is open to all Southern Sudanese community and all our loyal friends. The website belongs to those who are seriously dedicated to promote peace, development and unity in the Southern Sudan. It will operate on an inclusive membership so that all registered members can participate and freely share their views. The website will facilitate and encourage constructive discussion and link them globally in the spirit of unity and love and global fraternity. Nevertheless, we will not support people who lack respect for opinions of others and who aim to spread odium. The objectives that we outline here are not final but are some of the snapshots where our journey starts. We will from time to time improve on the site and if in the future our work proves positive and dynamic, we will expand on these aims accordingly. Our Premise
The fortitude to build a united, democratic and prosperous Southern Sudan, a productive
country of an equally prosperous global community that can earn the pride of the Southern Sudanese.
Our Insinuations "Those who have received the privilege of leaderships and educations, therefore,
have the duties to repay the sacrifice which others have done or passed to them. They are like a man who has
been given all the food available in a starving village in
order that he might have strength to bring supplies back from a distant place.
If he takes the food and does not bring help to his brothers, he should be labelled as a traitor.
Similarly, if any of the young men and women who are given educations by their
country, failed to use the knowledge they have acquired to help in building
the country, then would not only be measured as traitors but also as betrayals
of the nation."
Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere
Former President of the Republic of Tanzania (1964-1985) "When the time comes to vote at referendum, it is
your choice to determine your fate. Would you like to vote to be second class citizens in your own country?
It is absolutely your choice."
Dr. John Garang De Mabior (1945 - 2005)
Former Leader of SPLM/SPLA and First Vice President of the Republic of Sudan "
I have fought against domination, I detest racialism, because I regard it as a barbaric thing, whether it
comes from a black man or a white man. I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which
all persons live together in harmony and with equal opportunities.
"
Nelson Mandela
Former President of South Africa (May 1994 - June 1999) "Southern Sudanese must look for new leaders who cherish the
aspiration of Southern Sudanese for separation. The southern Sudanese political elites must
come up in defence of people's aspiration for separation than misleading them with the words of
New Sudan and making unity attractive to people who have been marginalized for more than
fifty years."
His Grace Archbishop Paulino Lokudu Loro
The Catholic Archbishop of Diocese of Juba Southern Sudan Culmination
We hope the objectives and the quotations that are outlined here will awaken each and everyone of us to
comprehend the reality. It's time that we (the Southern Sudanese) join our hands together and build a united and democratic
Southern Sudan, which will uphold a universal model of equality and human dignity.
